UTMB Nice Training: Same loop
This weekend, I’m doing the same loop as last Sunday: Pic aux Chèvres – Les Éoliennes – Plum – La Corniche – Mont Dore.
The aim for today is to complete this loop in less time. Firstly, by avoiding the same route mistakes, and secondly, by picking up the pace.
This time I’ve only got one session in for the weekend, so I’m setting off feeling pretty fit, and the weather’s lovely. I head up Pic aux Chèvres, the same route as last week.

Once I reach the summit, I feel good. I carry on along the ridge towards the wind turbines. As I’m in better shape, I’m less hesitant on the slippery red earth.
The descent towards Plum is quicker than last week; I don’t make the same route mistakes again.
Next comes a flat stretch along the hillside to the cliff-top road, the starting point for the climb up to Mont Dore.

Once past Mont Dore, it’s time for the descent of about 6 km. My legs are responding well; I don’t feel tired, and my pace is good.
I finish the loop a full hour faster than last week 🙂
